2008 Annual Meeting of Members

The Marion County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting was held August 16, 2008 in the lower level of the Marion Municipal Building Marion, Kansas. The meal, catered by Panhandler’s Catering Company, was served at 6:30 pm. The meeting was called to order by President Jeanie Bartel at 7:15 p.m. The Minutes of the 2007 Annual Meeting were reviewed. A motion to accept as written was made by Nick Kraus and seconded by Richard Brenzikofer. A vote was cast and the motion carried.

President Bartel gave the Financial report. She reported total assets at the end of 2008 $80,479.22 revenues $30,843.54 expenditures $27,843.54 ending the fiscal year at a positive $3,000.17. A motion to accept the financial report was made by Richard Brenzikofer and seconded by Norman Epp. A vote was cast and the motion carried.

President Bartel gave the nominating report. Nominations for the 1 open seat is re-elect Nick Kraus for a second term. Floor nominations were opened for Women’s Chair. Mary Olsen nominated Leah Sellers from the floor. Leah Sellers respect declined the nomination. A motion to keep nominations open until a prospective Women’s chair can be found was made by Nick Kraus, seconded by Richard Brenzikofer. The nominations for voting delegates to the KFB Annual meeting are Jeanie Bartel, Mike Meisinger, Glen Prieb, Terry Olsen and alternates are Brad Pagenkopf and Nick Kraus. A motion to accept a unanimous ballot was made Richard Brenzikofer and seconded by Rex Siebert. A vote was cast and the motion carried.

President Bartel gave his report on the past years events with Marion County Farm Bureau. He spoke of Food Check-Out Day, Day at the Statehouse, President’s trip to Washington DC, County Scholarships, the County Fair, 4H Donations, Farm and Ranch Day Camp and other various events that occurred throughout the year.

Special recognition was given to Terry Olsen for the 2008 Farm Family of the Year Award. Century Farm recipient was Robert and Leah Sellers.

The evenings guest speaker was Kansas Farm Bureau Legal Department Attorney Mike Irvin. Door prizes were given out from Marion County Farm Bureau and Farm Bureau Financial Services Agents Steve Kill and Andy Stone.  Motion to adjourn was made by Richard Brenzikofer and seconded by Terry Olsen. The 2008 Marion County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting was adjourned by President Terry Olsen at 8:00 p.m.
